Blind Vision could allow a spellcaster to see in the darkness. This was a special talent for certain special races, but for the Mages, it could be taken care of with a mid-level spell.

PHALANX is a terrible idea. It is extremely vulnerable from the sides and from behind. CHARIOTS require a rather skilled person to guide the animals and another rather skilled person with a weapon, be it a rifle, a bow or a spear. Also, if you lose the animal pulling it, bye-bye chariot. Lastly, they can capsize more easily than da think. MORTARS. The best option, in my opinion, and it can be built in this era. Though their mobility sucks to the extreme and they can only be pulled by strong and enduring animals, they can give mind-blowing results once they attack.

All his wounds ached with a numbness as the water cleansed them. All the little cuts and scratches that he didn't know he had. Especially those from the battle with the Uesugi. The difficulty of that fight had left a sour taste in his mouth – he knew it shouldn't have, for rightly, the battle should certainly have been a struggle… but he still did not like how close to the edge his came, even now that he had power.

From the very begining until just recently, I had a very neutral opinion of Tobian, even when he gave a few spells to Roland. Right now, my opinion of him is at an all-time rock-bottom. I'm quite pleased that he died.
