It was not unheard of. One Collector had even fallen to a similar humanoid machine titan of war created by the vast alliance that comprised the United Front.

Not very sadly, since they don't transfer over very well.

Not necessarily. But to be fair I do kinda want her to be just one little inconspicuous tree on the surface somewhere and have just a ridiculously huge root system going through the earth. The only inefficient part would be making the root system but once properly established it could draw in mana indefinitely from where ever needed and believe me it's a huge pain in thorax to try removing! Sometimes even after removing the stump the darn thing just starts growing back!
I'm kind of surprised that I got as much information as I did, especially considering how irritating that damn tree is. I do kind of wonder about her situation and how willing she is to reach out to allies. To do the things she does, she must be what, tier nine or above? At that level of power, she still needs help? What the heck!? What exactly is threatening her? I'm also rather curious as to where her main body is. I wonder what strata she chooses to make her home?

[The primary tap-root of the Mother Tree is… vast. I will not bother attempting to describe it to you. As for your other question, I will not reveal much other than to say that it is likely less than you think. Our Mother is not a normal tree, but rather a monstrous tree, thus she does not follow the same set of rules you might think she does. To grow her network here, she needed to sacrifice root systems in other places.]

I think he's maxed at 3 unless he spends points which he said he wasn't prepared to do yet
"You must be a long way from home, beastie… and I'm guessing you didn't come for a vacation? May as well give you a warm welcome… after all, it's a long way from the fourth strata."

Sadly human nature doesn't allow for such things. Both followers and leaders are susceptible to corruption. Otherwise it's the ideal utopia.
The former captain grunted and spat for good measure. Merchants. They never stopped thinking they were more clever than everyone else, always willing to try and pull the wool over the taxman's eyes. Apparently willing even when the taxman was a giant ant monster who could literally read minds if they wanted to. The ants might not really understand the concept of money, but they could certainly appreciate the idea of taxes. Every citizen contributing a portion of their wealth to the city to ensure the wellbeing of all? Of course they should! There had been long, long discussions with Enid when she had been here about the implementation of the new tax code and she'd revealed to him that the initial tax rate proposed by the Colony had been a hundred percent.

And that's why this makes no sense. I really like the idea that the story is built around, but the glaring gaps of inconsistencies are annoying. First it was supposed to do magical damage but then physically damages him? If they had simply said it does both types of damage at the same time then okay but that just makes it overpowered or makes him have great magic resistance to where he doesn't haven't to worry about it. or it could just be that magic is meant to be like a bludgeon that doesn't physically attack you but still causes physical damage. I'm just really confused over this statement and would like to th I nk that he took one too many hits to the head to realize his own stupidity.
"Oh this is quite good, next time I meet that devil of cherub I would not be beaten so easily," he grinned in expectation.

This might just be the sanest conversation we've ever heard from him. He really isn't doing well. 😶
"There is just so much to do," he sighed, "the antmancer class is a brand-new revelation, but the speed of our progress, our levelling, has fallen dramatically since the siege ended. I have tried to explain to the faithful that a class such as this is hard to train, and likely powerful as it advances, but they hunger so desperately for the next improvement, the next chance for the System to illuminate this glorious path. They take risks, they push too hard and no matter how I try to warn them, their eagerness and enthusiasm overtakes them. Several members of my church have been sent to the surface for healing and extended rest over the last week, their own actions slowing rather than speeding their progress. I find it hard to blame them, since I too share their desire for that next great leap."

Entwife acquired... now what?
There's also White and Grey to think of. From what I've heard, Grey put on quite the show and absolutely humiliated the leader of the invasion during the siege, which would have been amazing to see. I should definitely squeeze in a convo with them before I leave the nest. I should probably check in with the council at some point also. I'm sure each of them are furiously busy, what with the wave and all that, but I've little doubt that there are things I could do to help them out. If I end up visiting each caste, I'm sure to wind up with a laundry list of tasks as long as my body. I could probably take the time to go and see the branchies again as well. They've proven to be quite a bit more powerful than initially expected and if we can get their 'mother' on our side then she would be an incredible ally. Not to mention it'd be nice to get to know another reincarnator such as myself. At least, one that isn't likely to kill me.

It is good to find another member of the colony here.
"I believe they came from ants-forest ants, to be precise." I voice out my concerns and inform everyone about my findings. Some did not bother hearing my words, but their faces tell me that my hunch was correct.

True, but initially it will work against him. He's a long way off until his skeleton is powerful enough for this to be a boon.
From what he knew, when the bonded creature died, it would reform stronger than before by absorbing more mana and adapting its body from the experience.

If so then he'd be pride.
My species is listed as an Initial Demon Larva. The name is telling. First, 'initial' indicates that there are multiple stages of 'demon larva', which shows that there is some capacity for growth that is recognised by this 'game system'. Second, I'm a demon of some kind. In the Judeo-Christian variety? Will I have horns and a pointy tail? For someone who was often referred to as a 'demon' in their life, this almost feels fitting in some way.

what friends? He's the weird outcast of the group
One of the reasons why I never liked to interact with people wasn't just because I was an introvert...no it's because, by the middle stages of the novels, chances were that all the friends I had made would end up dying.
