I know that I'm 7 months late to the debate over whether the gravity in this fantasy world is accurate or not but have you considered that humans could just be really small? they'd judge acceleration based off their own body length so it would seem like gravity was the same as his old world (his body had been living there for years so he'd feel the gravity as 'normal' ). it would also help explain violations to the square cube law with big monsters
