She was hurt like that already though. Does he not recall what happened after she was captured by the wolves?
In the front row of the Tree City, Hollhye stood, her hands clasped and in front of her chest, staring at Behryn like he might suddenly be snatched from her. The raw fear in her features made Reth frown. His brother was doing well. But then, she'd almost lost him. He couldn't fault her for worrying. If the same had occurred to Elia he wasn't sure he would have let go of her hand yet.

Someone finally figured it out! 😭
"Shit… shit, of course!" Gahrye cursed. "That's what's happened to the wolf pack. The voices are loose in them, Kalle! That's why we have this stupid war! That's why Lucan went bad last year—or worse, anyway. Of course. I can't believe I didn't see it."

Ulyseon watched her leave with a puzzled expression. "She must have some urgent business to attend to."

Lerrin caught a hint of Suhle's scent as they approached and held his breath. He doubted Reth yet knew about their Mate status, and he didn't want to put her in deeper trouble with the lion. Not yet.

Everything hinged on this moment.

4 days?! Why didn’t we get to read about Riftan and Maxi’s reunion?!?! 😭
"That is why I gave you four days to eat and drink like pigs!" Riftan retorted. "You've rested enough! If you are not ready in an hour, my men and I will depart for Balbourne without you. I wonder how your lord will react when he learns why his royal knights missed the victory parade."

They finally started talking about the blood transfusions! 😭
Elia nodded. "That would make sense," she said quietly, pushing the bacon around on her plate with a fork. "And, actually… if that is the issue, then it's probably helped by all the blood they gave me when they were healing me before we crossed."

The sound of the two guards outside saluting and calling honor on a superior officer stopped them both cold.

Where the heck are they getting all of the mana to animate all of them? I was hoping resurrecting the dragon would’ve drains them of a significant amount of their power, but their supply seems limitless…
The princess's sharp blue eyes glinted as she continued, "They might have even brought back all the monsters that died long before the campaign. Including the undead from the east, we're looking at numbers surpassing six thousand."

It’s forbidden magic and was thus not widely studied. A select few elites from the Tower might know something about it, but they wouldn’t readily admit it.

Shaw nodded, his glasses reflecting the light from the window behind her. Elia couldn't figure out why that made her feel nervous, so she turned back to the food.

What about the dragon!? The necromancer said you were already too late! 😱
Maxi gazed down at the battlefield where darkness was descending, her eyes filled with hope. With this battle, the long, harsh winter would finally come to an end.

I wonder at what cost though? What exactly did Riftan and the pope promise in order to sway Sir Geyhart?
Maxi's chest was close to bursting from pride as well. By establishing a secret agreement with Dristan's royal family and winning support for the armistice in Balto, Riftan had extinguished the sparks of war. All that was left was to stop the dragon's revival.

That wouldn’t have helped. It’s clear the wolves were planning a takeover for a long time. Lucine was just the easiest way for them to achieve that goal, and it would’ve worked if they hadn’t underestimated Elia. Even if Reth hadn’t slept with Lucine, the wolves would’ve just found another excuse eventually.
But he resisted. Within himself he fought, begging the Creator for the chance to go back in time and turn Lucine down before the Rite.

Why is she surprised? Did Elia miss the part about them being at war?
"Yes," Gahrye and Candace both said, each reaching in their robes. Gahrye revealed a wicked knife that made Elia's mouth drop open. Why was he carrying that? Candace flicked out a much smaller knife that looked more like a tool. But the blade gleamed as she put it on the table in front of her.

Would the wolves really not try to follow? They are the ones who retrieved Elia in the first place. They know where she lives!
"Only the traverse," Reth said quietly, rubbing her back. "Once you are there, you must just live the life given you. Attend to the tasks. And wait. The danger is far lower there—especially with Anima guards."

Maxi feigned reluctance, but she soon undressed and entered the tub. He drew her on top of him and pulled her into a tender kiss. Maxi smiled, twirling his sleek hair around her finger. A sweet pleasure soon took over.

"Look at me." He lifted her chin gently, gazing intently into her eyes. "The duke no longer has the power to trouble me. But even if he did, it's not something you need to apologize for."

He was going to have to remember her new senses. They could prove very inconvenient.
