Phone company circuits get overloaded in a crisis with everyone trying to call in to check on people or those inside calling out to reassure friends and family. That’s the case in something comparatively local like an earthquake, then expand it to a global situation and I’m only surprised that the system is giving them a busy signal instead of just saying circuits are down or something similar.

That will lose them money. A $1 item with a 50% markup has a price of $1.50. 40% off is a price of $0.90, so it’s a loss on every item. Maybe rephrase to say the proposal is to reduce the markup 40% down to 10% ?

Depends on the scene. The style should reflect the perspective of the character at the time. For MC, probably less flowery, but if another character is describing it then shift accordingly. Just my 2 cents.

Apparently, Klaus was minding his own business but those twins were the ones who initiated the fight. He said that it looked as if they prepared traps to catch him and take his cores from him but it was backlashed.
