just because this is a fantasy doesnt mean it should be oblivious to logic I mean the school have a high tech monitor system while the royal palace have a creaky hand pushed door. and since this society is a monarchy then the royal family very knowledgable with tech/magic that will ease their life ,show off in front of others or protect their life. And as I mentioned earlier advanced knowledge about complicated things have its prerequisites like how you need knowledge about hydraulics to create plumbing system.
Never did he imagine that this place was so advanced in magic-based equipment that could even rival or defeat the modern technology of earth.

This right here is very stupid. A very advanced technology will seem like magic to others if it cannot be explained. If they really have an advanced civilisation there are bound to be hints about it such as light bulbs, electricity, steam engine among others.
