I think all the shadow blades / living shadows came from the same place: the world that was overwhelmed with shadow essence. My guess is that the gods came from that world into Arran's many ages ago and the Imperium is the descendants of the primitive people they conquered.

Speaking as an Army veteran who teaches wrestling, there is a huge difference between training people and leading soldiers.

Arran nodded. Though he was less than pleased with the unexpected promotion, he was relieved to hear that he wouldn't actually have to command his group. Because for all his strength, he had no experience whatsoever in leading others.

Everything you could ask for in a progression fantasy story. The main character has many adventures and power levels on occasion. Though luck does play a factor in the plot, it doesn't detract from the fun.

Good to get your isekai fix, but a little stereotypical. Main character has certain advantages but is otherwise average. He overcomes many obstacles as he gains power over time.
