Forcing one leg to move in front of the other, Haruna moved farther and farther away from Kanako. To her surprise, while the first steps had been difficult, Haruna quickly found herself breaking into a run.

For a moment, Kanako was quiet. "Chiyo?" she said. "Hm?" "D-Do you think… do you think Haruna will go out with me?" At her question, Chiyo couldn't help but laugh. "Seriously Kana-chan? Of course she will! That girl is so in love with you. For real, Kana-chan… the way she looks at you… the way she smiles when you're around… I've never seen Haru-chi like that. "Not… yet…" she said, barely audible. Haruna stared at her, and when Kanako looked up, she swore she saw heartbreak on the girl's face. "Please…" she begged internally. "Wait for me… just a little bit longer." She needed to move quickly. Once whatever it was with Hinami was resolved, Kanako was sure she could finally give her answer.

Suddenly, there was a clatter of noise. Looking ahead, Kanako saw Haruna, who was fumbling around with her utensils. "Sorry, my chopsticks just slipped out of my hands, haha…" Haruna said weakly. Kanako watched it all unfold, and as she did, she felt a festering pain grow in her chest. "Why does this bother me so much?" she wondered. "There's just something about Haruna doing what Yamane-san suggested that just really irritates me." She knew where that irritation was directed too. Right at Hinami, who had no idea. Inside, Kanako felt conflicted. She really did want to like Hinami, yet, for some reason, whenever she saw the girl interact with Haruna, it drove her nuts. "Why is she so close like that anyways? Isn't she supposed to be shy or something?" Kanako thought bitterly.

Wanting to join her and the others, Kanako and Haruna were about to go to the wash stations when someone stopped them. "E-Excuse me!" Hinami said. Kanako and Haruna turned around. "U-Um, I was w-wondering if maybe I could w-wash your back for you Endo-san?" Haruna opened her mouth to respond, but before she could get a word out, Kanako spoke. "I'm already here, so there's no need for that." Her words were so sharp that they made Hinami flinch. "O-Oh, r-right. O-Okay, well I'll just wait in the baths for you two then."

Kanako came to a conclusion. "Then it's only when she's with Haruna that I get annoyed with her. Is it because she says she's Haruna's number one fan? Is it because she shows so much interest in her?" Kanako sat deep in thought for a moment before suddenly rubbing her head and running her fingers all through her hair. "Ugh! I don't get it!" she cried internally. Next to her, Hinami stared with a look of confusion and a bit of fear.

"Oh, and speaking of Haru-chi," Chiyo said. "Are you gonna confess on the school trip?" "C-C-CONFESS?!" Kanako shouted louder than she meant to, drawing the attention of some nearby students. "What, you mean you weren't going to?" Chiyo asked. "U-Um…" Kanako let out. The truth was that the thought had crossed her mind more than once. At this point, Haruna's ankle was healthy enough that she could basically function like normal, so Kanako didn't have to worry about burdening Haruna with her own feelings. Really, all she had to do was give an answer to Haruna's previous confession.

But while those three engaged in conversation, another was frozen stiff. "Number one… fan?" Kanako repeated in her head. "What does that mean?" For some reason, those words bothered her. Hearing Haruna had a fan was already confusing enough on it's own, but there was something about the way Hinami acted about it that made Kanako feel uneasy. "What's… this feeling?"

Haruna heard her explanation, but there was one part she was stuck on. "I… like you?" she repeated. Kanako's eyes went wide at her. "O-Oh, n-n-no, that's not what I-" Kanako tried to stumble through her words, but Haruna stopped her. "It's okay Kanako. I know you didn't mean it like that," she said with a sad smile. Kanako looked away. "Maybe I did…" she muttered, but Haruna didn't catch it.

Even if Haruna was in a group with Kanako, she wasn't sure she could handle it. Being together most of the day. Sharing the same room. Most likely sharing the same bath. Trying to envision it all just made Haruna nervous. "Would I be okay?" she wondered. Seeing Kanako in so many different ways in such a little time and in such close proximity felt like it might be overwhelming. "It's not like I'm some sex-crazed beast, but still…" Haruna thought.
