it's simply being human, Most novels can't even try to do this making a 'human' MC is almost none existent so it's a nice change of pace to have a more human mindset on the OC, And watching something like that wouldn't instinctually cause him to give up and cower it would be the test that makes or breaks him, He will either collapse under the pressure and give up or grow stronger from the experience
