Bind with a horse, like a stallion or destrier. Imagine having a warhorse familiar that is bigger, faster and stronger than other horses. Useful for both travel and battle.

To be more specific, to pierce plate armour, the arrow had to be fired straight and not in a falling arc, and if armour was too thick (more than about 1.8 mm) it became less and less likely for an arrow to pierce the plate, but the impact was such that the man would likely be knocked off his feet and heavily winded. The breastplate is the hardest part of the armour to pierce anyway, due to its relative thickness and it’s curvature, so Yeomen would likely aim for the head, when the targets came into discernible range (60m).
