while I do see your point adding someone like that too early on we'll have a number of people dropping your book people haven't been given enough time and chapters to get a strong enough attachment to this book to continue reading through such annoying bits

there's super annoying side character and it manages to annoy me just as much as MC other than that it's okay

I very much enjoyed the book up until the author started implementing the second love interest then it became pretty bad
