While her mind wandered, another tentacle lashed at her. This time it blurred as it whipped. Sera swung the cane tucked under her armpit. Fragments of white bones scattered in every direction as the dome rung out. She felt her cold feet tighten around the cold stone floor she stood as pain spread through her body. The tentacle of darkness faded after she reestablished control over the dome.

Seth found this sudden build-up of rage alien to him. It was as though the anger and lust for blood didn't come from his mind. He subdued the bloodlust by breathing slowly and reminding himself that it was neither the time nor place for such. He turned around and ran as fast as his lithe figure would let him.

Seth bow hand slightly quivered. He expected to find some scraggly, enfeebled beast he could take down with a few well-placed shots, not a mythical creature with untold strength. He thought of fleeing. If the stories about the beast were true, he knew didn't stand a chance. Its strength grew the more it killed, and ate, and it never physically changed regardless of how much power its lithe figure held. The screech let out stunned the creature would be a pain to deal with in the heat of battle.

The forest was eerily quiet though it was scarcely dusk, and his enhanced senses revealed that nothing moved in his immediate vicinity. Seth strolled to the base of a large Oak tree. Its ashen trunk was thicker and fractured than most, and its limbs peaked above the canopy of green that darkened the forest floor. Seth summoned one of his two new Urum daggers from his dimensional ring, and climbed, stabbing into the trunk of the might oak, whenever he needed purchase. He didn't stop climbing until he broke through the treeline, and could see everything clearly around.

He was 2. 5 meters all, where long fang was 2 and the other three even smaller. The woman shrunk back in fear and hurriedly unsheathed her dagger. Her hands and feet wobbled, and she fell to the floor. A few of her loyal pike men abandoned their weapons and ran for their lives. Chaos descended upon them, and Grey mane's hind legs flexed hard, ready to pounce and finish the job.

"his eyes touched" may not communicate what you think it communicates
"Bring me your leader," he growled at a pink-nosed kid his glowing eyes touched. He was covered in scrapes and bruises from when he fell behind the stampeding crowd. The kid wet himself and could only shakily point in the direction of the brunette clad in leather armor approaching the wolves with a retinue of armed guards. Some held halberds and spears, others bow and arrows. They had clearly planned to receive wolf neighbors. She held a bow herself and approached the wolf with an indifferent smile.

When I started this, I thought the author had shot themself in the foot by trying to build on the beloved world of Avatar, something millions of people worldwide grew up with. But I've been really impressed. The story is interesting enough that you don't know what'll happen next, even though you're quite familiar with Avatar. The characters are delightfully complex, the action sequences are thrilling and easy to follow, and the events unfold at a pleasant pace. I think it's well worth a read.
