Sounds like Neph is the perfect counter to Sunnys powers though, which might come into play later on
Now that he could absorb the ambient essence while in the embrace of shadows, the rate at which his own essence was being consumed to keep himself intangible was lower than the rate at which it was being replenished. In other words, Sunny could remain in the form of a shadow indefinitely now, for as long as he stayed away from bright light and true darkness.

what if Cassie is actually Torment, and she's been on the great river for far longer? Those leather bound books were probably her journals, and she might have found a way to suppress her defilement. would be an interesting twist
"...Where are you going?"

since he's a terror now he should augment himself with all 6 shadows and Nephs fire and try sniping Devouring Beast from the top of the tower. take out her other eye and see what happens 🤷♂️
Sunny caught glimpses of the two from time to time. His shadows were always keeping an eye on the outside world. With the mist growing thinner with each day, the landscape of Aletheia's Island gradually cleared — so, by now, he could see a good chunk of the ancient forest from the top of the tower.

I came to the same solution several chapters back and I still stand by it
"Because one can't exist without the other. Imperfection is also an absolute law, just like death… and so, nothing is flawless. Even the world itself is flawed. Even the gods, who were born flawless, are not perfect anymore. And so, we humans are flawed, too."

I had this theory a while back in the book that the gods attained their position as gods by forcibly removing their flaws, thus creating the daemons.
"She told me that the daemons were the Flaw of the gods. I'm not sure what she meant, though. I always assumed that the gods were flawless."

what if Sunny takes over the Black Pyramid? I feel like that could be a huge blow if he can hold it against the clans somehow
As for Sunny, he simply wanted to make sure that their war did not spill out into the streets of the siege capitals, and that as few soldiers and civilians as possible were hurt by the clash of the great clans. And if he managed to hurt the bastards in the process, that would be even better.

I have never seen this gif before, but it is amazing
He was supposed to know everything about Soul Projections yet nothing made sense. Never before had a Projection manifested a will of its own or the ability to speak and interact with the outside world.

What if Sunny finds him near the Pyramid tomb when he eventually goes? He might be able to bring him back somehow

his ability to just phase in and out of Fringes like it's a revolving door is always fantastic to me
Before Quylla could ask him for clarifications, the Tyrant stepped out of the Fringe with an ease that irked everyone, even Nalrond, to no end.

I thought there were some that had abilities related to mind manipulation that could use speech or at the very least mimic it to trick their prey
"Die, today. Little… wretch."

I'm looking forward to Saints's Yeetus Deletus throw with this overpowered Titan Toothpick.
That was why he had needed Saint to evolve… he needed a Transcendent being to bring forth the Siege Souvenir's potential.

It was like being locked in a tiny cage with a very angry, starving tiger.

Sunny should take a power nap by the gate and rescue Quentin
Sunny paused for a few seconds, then briefly wiped his eyes and continued.

I think he can be at times because even when he was rescuing those refugees he still knew his survival took precedence. He also doesn't display his full strength often, and I think if it came down to it and he had to fight Neph again, with his Echos, Shadows, and Saint, I think he would win with ease
Lady Nephis, Effie, Night... all of them were exalted warriors. But Sunny was a scout. Even if he was a splendid swordsman and a cunning tactician, his Aspect was not suited for battle, let alone the kind of battles that must be happening in Antarctica.

I think he found his conviction by calling them "his people."
He had finally managed to bring his people to safety.

we do the same thing for EOD techs in the Army who were killed. it's so you can have a drink with old friends/comrades even though they aren't there to have it.
The fifth glass of whiskey remained standing on the table, untouched.
