it's not exactly nitpicking though. It's obvious the author was trying to explain his actions, hence why they wrote the explanation for their choice. Just said this so they can have peace of mind when writing what they want as it's their book after all
Many people might think that when I got five wishes I should have asked for more op powers but let me tell you that I was a big fan of Naruto series and the fighting style which utilizes various jutsus is the thing I fancy the most in Naruto so I will obviously not ask some other power. What good will it do to be born in Naruto world if you can't utilize extravagant jutsus. Should I have asked for powers such as being born as a saiyan in the world of ninjas and then what? Slap everyone to death? Wouldn't it be a waste to live like that where there is no sense of fun in life. It will be exactly like my previous life. So I gave a deep thought to my wishes and chose them accordingly and I regret nothing.

For him that event hadn't happened yet and even if it happened now.. it wouldn't matter much. Because this time, the scale was much bigger. Instead of defeat.. his drive this time was Greed. He wanted everything the future Shoyo had. After getting a taste of what his future could look like.. the true defeat would be if he wasn't able to achieve that. He couldn't settle for anything less than what he had in his memories.. on the contrary.. he wanted more than that, much more.

could have gone into hiding and trained? well then again he's still just a kid but at the end of the day the war was still drawn out for so long because he wasn't around. It's alright to have sympathy for him, I do too. After all the whole show is showing him his perspective of things and it's easy to understand him. But at the same time, I also feel for the millions of lives that were tortured and enslaved. Even Aang understood the weight of his actions. He was just a kid and didn't know better and it's good he did his best to make things better once he got out of the iceberg. Not sure if you agree with me and if not, I don't mind. I can understand your reasoning a bit even though I don't agree with it.

I agree with the mc though. Yeah Aang was a child but at the same time he is the Avatar yes I understand that he didn't ask for it and it's quite unfortunate But his actions led to a 100 year war. The lives that were taken and the people that were enslaved didn't want that either. the feelings of a child and the feelings of millions... sorry I think it's obvious which I'd pick
