I do not fully know why I like this fanfic so much, it has almost all the signs of of a typical self insert, a get everything you desire kind of novel. Yet, I can’t stop reading, this fanfic is like drug. With just the title giving away this would probably be a self insert fanfic which doesn’t put in the effort for its pay offs. Well that’s just if you went based on a a brief description of this fanfic. This fanfic somehow manages to balance doing whatever the author wants and needed plot progression. Usually in this sort of plot line any semblance of a story will be lost very quickly when the author just gives up and realizes they have full power to do anything. This is to not say self inserting yourself in story is bad thing, no rather I see it as very important step in needing to humanize your characters for both inexperienced and professional writers, because usually a lot of the details you need for a character can only come from personal experience. What this fanfic does with its self insert nature is truly unique, instead of the story being built before the self insert things, rather the story is built from its self insert nature allowing for them to blend nicely. Example being when a character holds back subconsciously due to their immense strength, but finally gets to release their full strength after struggling against a somewhat worthy opponent. In a normal story this would be absolutely insane, I mean a character you already know is strong, is even stronger than he lets on, isn’t this a dream I had in middle school? Due to the nature of the story being already well established at this point, it doesn’t feel out of place at all for there to be such a reveal, and in fact I think it shows some decent characterization of the character who held back and it allows flexibility to jump into even crazier fights in order to test out how far the characters hidden power goes. Something I would like to point out as a strong point of this story is its enthralling fights, it’s easy to write a good fight scene, but it’s hard to hype up those fights. Each fight feels more exciting than the last, and while most fights end up in a way to allow the main character to seem even cooler, that doesn’t take away from all the build up. If this author decides to write another more focused on fighting then I would happily read it. The writing in this fanfic is really good and you would have to actively search for writing mistakes in order to find any. The pace this author updates is just insane and personally I’m a little worried for his health. The characters written here are pretty good actually and none of them feel completely flat and I can see the author is constantly trying to give his characters humanity. Most time in fanfics detailed characters are usually traded in for cool new concepts and even more layers of coolness/edginess on their respective characters so seeing a fanfic writer try their best to avoid easily the one of the biggest mistakes of any new writers is always nice to see. Overall I enjoy this fanfic throughly and I hope to see it continue to a desirable conclusion.
