Rayleigh's transition from a rising strike to a downward strike seemed to break common sense, but was possible due to the precise setup that the first move had which perfectly led into the second. The power from the rising strike came from the stomp on the ground, but he adjusted his body to turn that power into the act of stretching a rubber band which was then released to convert the upward force directly into an even faster downward force. It was like throwing a rubber ball hard at the ground and seeing it come back up even faster than you threw it.
