I'm really glad this is being brought up. Guns in a fantasy setting always make me feel a little uncomfortable exactly for this reason. it just makes taking a life TOO easy. :(
But not with guns. Not with the one we wanted to create, the one that was designed to be usable for anyone as long as they had mana. There was no need for extensive training, and even if a child get their hands on one, as long as they could infuse mana into something, they could pull the trigger.

Could the girl not be real but perhaps a memory implanted or inherited from his grandmother. he said the illness messed with his memories...so couldn't what he thinks he remembers about the hospital actually be his mind trying to fit pieces together for him... even the doctor...ahhh the mind is so tricky...I'm starting to wonder if he was actually hospitalized as he thinks or if that was something his mind conjured up. hmmm prob not
I almost coughed on my night tonic when I heard the name. Wait wait wait...was there anything called that in this world? Midas--a name that most likely hailed from the legend on Earth. I mean...I knew this world was a novel, but I was pretty sure the author girl tried to not use names with historical or cultural impact on Earth.

i think grandma was originally from this magical world. like Natha jumped dimensions, maybe grandma did too..maybe to escape danger or something.
If there was anyone with bold, capital HE plastered on their person existed in my life, it would be Natha. But that would be weird, since I did not meet Natha before I died. And...it would be weird if my grandma predicted my going into another world...right?

ahhh i just had a thought that maybe his mysterious illness has to do with a lack of mana on earth...like something innate yo his soul awakened and it affected his ability to exist comfortably in a mana deficient place but his death was slower because he awakened less or perhaps because his body eas accustomed to existing without mana...hmmm

Hmmm...it's kind of frustrating that this opportunity for Natha to hint at his dimension jumping is missed. I imagine there's some grand reveal in the works...but it's so painful to keep reading Val's disgust towards himself. I hope it doesn't get dragged out too long or end up being a cliche misunderstanding

Well, the gist of it was that the hero was hero-ing with his skills and whatnot, excellent, yes, yes, and managed to subdue the knights despite only being helped by a church boy and a blind nun who at least could cast a heal. Very protagonist. Much wow.

very early theory..natha is actually that doctor or appeared as him and that's why he is so affectionate with Val . also he is so wealthy and his city is like Earth with magic because he has a way to cross to earth.

I'm sure it will have great use, but like usual, Lex will forget about it until he needs it most. It's good foreshadowing. I don't know if he'll make an inn but I could see it coming into play as a defensive tactic of some sorts.
But ultimately that too was just a novelty item, and did not attract his attention the way the book did. After parting ways with the two old men, and wishing them luck, Leo returned to his apartment and removed his glasses, once again returning to his baby size.

the use of "would" here and in previous instances is really jarring when you can just say "will."
