Doing stuff like what exactly? Simply put, this woman has been barring him from seeing his sister(who he loves romantically and mutually sees her as more than that. A soulmate), only allowing them to meet once a month. Not to mention her treatment of him in his early years of servitude which included using him with him not having any means to fight back. Thus a situation like this would occur where there's a dissonance and a harsh feeling. If you read further, this is resolved somewhat. In regards to your other comment, I'd love to see some direct examples in this novel which correlates to your definition of an edgelord.
