Both Shane and the shadow snake didn't know that [Artemis' Blessing] had played a huge role to establish an amicable relationship between them. The shadow snake liked Shane more than it hated him for killing its brethren, which was uncommon.

It is actually stupid.Either that or it's to young. Also other snakes would normally try to escape or fight since that is the normal thing to do.
He didn't like forcing anyone to do something, but he really wanted to have this shadow snake as his companion, because it seemed more intelligent than its brethren.
