This makes sense if he's focused on trying to unlock power so he can use it freely day and night. We've seen it hard to unlock.

In terms of Chakra, Asahi did not deliberately train it. With his cheat, he only needs to train in it carefully, instead of learning some miscellaneous things. It would be a very stupid thing to do. Therefore, besides paying attention to some Genjutsu that are helpful to him, he didn't pay attention to the others.

It's very dry. Nothing seems to really happen, everything is practically just stated and the character itself which could've have been interesting is bland with very little personality.
