Idk where the author is getting at with thisā¦ but story aside it is never ok to justify abuse. Ik it can make things easier to cope with, trust me I did it for years, but at the end of the day Lizzy did the bare minimum and below that.
I guess as a kid there are many things she just couldn't accept. I don't blame her for that but even though I would like to, I can't seem to blame Lizzie, because in the end, she did keep her for three years and tried to do what she thought was best and I'm glad in the end she found a good person to take care of her for the rest of five years.

It just sounds pretty manipulative to me. HE put her in danger. The fact that he values her having a choice of going with him or not, over her own safety and freedom is crazy! At this point, even if she chose to not go with him she would never be free. They would continue to hunt her down, and he clearly knows thatš. He fr just endangered her life and emotionally scarred her, then acts like heās being respectful and mindful towards what she wants.
