Second option, if you don't enjoy writing the book then the quality will drop regardless if you mean to or not. So write a new story in a way that pleases you and afterwards you could continue this story(if you want) in a way that satisfies us as readers and you as an author.

I mean did you even read the book that well? The MC/Author has clearly told us that he doesn't want to interfere with Asta too much lest he become dependent on MC. Granted I read this after the rewrite of the first few chapters so maybe it was as you describe it was before but now though it isn't like that at all.
