Well, that's because Americans technically did invent pizza. The quote on quote pizza from italy at the time was glorified garlic bread. The recipe for the dough wasn't even remotely like pizza dough is today And they Didn't use tomato based sauce. They used garlic based sauces and they didn't use mozzarella cheese they used a different type of cheese. Does that sound remotely like pizza to you? In real life that would be a horrible idea. You would want to have it much deeper than that and much less Wider than that. Because the more surface area, the greater the evaporation. And you don't want all your water to evaporate out of your reservoir. That's meant to go towards the crops, not into the atmosphere.
The water depth near the shore was only 1.5 meters, and as you moved towards the center of the artificial lake, it got deeper. However, the deepest part was only about 2 meters.
