In Nekko's case, for Rayzen that was him adjusting to the morality of ninja world. For a emotionally disturbed Rayzen, it was enough to think that 'what if' that guy was forced into doing stuff that he never wanted to. You can also consider this similar to the psychology of how people expect a serial killer to not kill by humanizing the victim as much as possible. ( movie psychology 😋). Here the root nin made Rayzen feel that he was killing a human, instead of a cold blooded ruthless mass murderer. Hence all the self-doubts.

I did this to put a limiter on Sharingan. We know Sharingan can't copy other kekkei genkais. Having both mastery of lightning nature and Sharingan , Sasuke never copied Raikage's op lightning cloak. So I assumed other factors could restrict the copying abilities like physique. For gentle fist, you can copy it, but it will just be an imitation. What is being copied is merely a rigid set of movements, that is analysed by Sharingan. And this will be useless, as gentle fist is a soft style martial art. But it can be argued that Sasuke copied Lee's style. But that was a rigid set of movements used at the right time for the best effect. My thought process is that Sharingan lets you copy all these things and use them. But the copied things need to be understood well enough to bring out their true potential in battle. This can also be one of the reasons why only Kakashi got the title Copy Ninja, despite many Uchiha having Sharingan.
It could be argued that Rayzen could just copy the fighting style of the Hyuga's using his two tomoe Sharingan's copying ability. But that would just be blindly copying the technique and he would need to spent a considerable number of years to make the technique his own and more years to further receive inspiration from the technique.
