Couldn't continue after chp 1425 (although long before this I was already wanting to drop but made myself continue). The author needs to switch the ML asap. This "ML" sucks. The words used to describe him are usually "scheming/cunning/selfish" etc. Erm??? Am I expected to root for this asshole? He doesn't deserve the MC. It's just too bad because I finally find a good book that's interesting and the MC is super strong, even stronger than the "ML" (which is usually not the case in female-protagonist stories), but the "ML"s character leaves a lot to be desired. Btw i used " " for the "ML" because i think he doesn't deserve the title. The translator note says that this story isn't primarily focused on romance, which is true for the first 900-1000 chapters i think, but it is very clear who the "ML" is supposed to be. And after that the story unfortunately starts to split some attention towards the romance aspect, which really spoiled the story tbh. I think everything was well and good before that. The romance and the "ML" are totally unnecessary. This story really does not need romance. The action/adventure is good enough. In summary: Really interesting story with superb plot and world building and decent characters (except for the "ML"), but unfortunately got ruined by the romance/"ML". If you're looking for a story without much romance, you can probably read until maybe chp 1000 and then drop it.

Okay so I actually really like the plot and the MC's cultivation journey and episodes of dealing with ghosts and stuff, but I have mixed feelings reading this because of......... the romance. I don't like the ML. He's your typical cold, domineering, obsessive, possessive ML (why do authors like to write such MLs???). As a male lead I'd say he's a 5/10. I've read worse MLs and I've also read better MLs. I feel like the whole story would be much better if he wasn't in it, to be honest. I don't really think he adds much to the story. He’s just a plot device to make some things convenient with his wealth and power. Another thing about this story is that it's full of highs and lows. It's like being on a rollercoaster. The foreshadowing is... well, it's something. It really makes me worry about what's gonna happen and I have to start speeding up my reading because I'm scared that what I think is gonna happen will happen, lol, and I'll wanna get there faster so that I don't have to be kept in suspense ;p That takes away a bit from my enjoyment of the story, honestly. But overall I still think the plot is interesting and I do like the MC. I've read some reviews that say she can't stand up to the ML and I do agree. She's like mostly scared of him being angry and him showing his stupid cold angry face -.- I wish she would stand her ground against him and just be firm.... TLDR; intriguing supernatural / cultivation plot, unfortunately with an unlikeable ML. It all depends on your tolerance.

I spent almost a week reading up till chp ~484 and decided to drop it. I don’t like that the story moved away from the main characters and focused on their kids instead. I especially don’t like that when the story moved away from the adults, they didn’t even use the main pairing’s kids to do so! They used a side pairing and fast forwarded time when talking about that side couple’s kid. I would have much preferred reading about the Han kids growing up instead of Li Ao. That really upset me because I still thought this was just another one of those arcs that focuses on a side character / side pairing and the novel would eventually go back to the main pairing. Based on the summary and intro, I thought this whole novel would focus on song ci and Han zhan but that’s not really the case. Even though they are undoubtedly the main characters, there are quite a few arcs where other characters backgrounds and stories are explored. I obviously would have preferred a story that focuses mainly on the song sisters. The story started with song ci’s rebirth, after all. I took a look at the chapter titles ahead and peeked at the extra story, and they indeed focus on the kids so I’m completely not interested anymore. I feel sad that the story gravitated away from song ci, Han zhan, song fei, Yan Jiang. I feel like they were the soul of the story. One thing to note, the chapters are actually quite long. I was surprised because I’m used to reading really short chapters in other Cnovels. Other than this I unfortunately have nothing else to say.
