I can’t believe she actually told them everything

"You don't believe me do you?" She sighed, her shoulders drooping. It was to be expected.

Why do I feel like this is the calm before the storm?

No, Loriel couldn't take that risk. He would stop lying to her, or at least he would try not to lie again. Elise deserved a husband who never lied to her for whatever reasons. He would slowly find ways to tell her the truth about who he was and what was their actual relationship.

There is no nationwide standard or law that applies to everyone for maternity leave- it all depends on federal, state, and company policies/guidelines. Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) policy provides 12 weeks of unpaid leave for the birth or adoption of a child for employees who have been employed for 12 months and have worked at least 1,250 hours in the year prior to requesting leave.

"Have you found a caregiver for Aleksis? How can you return to work so quickly?" asked Anne when Finland entered the office for the first time after giving birth. Unlike most other countries, women did not get maternity leave in the United States, and every mother was expected to return to work after giving birth so as not to be subjected to salary deductions.
