"So I guess the rumors really were true…" Having discovered something new, she just had to tell her friends. That would proceed to set off a chain reaction, one that would impact many on the first day of the new school year.

She wasn't really sure what to make of such an action. "If Haruna is standing on the other side of this door, then… what?" Kanako didn't know. Should she demand that Haruna open the door? "No, that wouldn't work. Haruna would be more likely to yell at me for something like that then follow a demand." Should she just wait? "...I could end up being here a while. Plus, I doubt her parents would want be camping out in front of their daughter's room. Even I think that would be pretty weird."

Honestly, I'm uncertain if I want to address this, so I'll keep this brief and as minimal as possible. Many of you undoubtedly have very… strong opinions on the Christmas scene. With their final stop completed, the group of students made their way back onto the buses with souvenirs and late-night snacks in hand. They were headed back to the hotel they were staying at, where they would be having dinner. As Haruna went over the schedule, she saw that bath times would be coming up. Worry for her heart rose as the thought of bathing with Kanako swam in her head.

When they sat down, Chiyo looked at Haruna with concern. "Did something happen Haru-chi?" she asked in a whisper. Haruna sighed. "I don't know…" "Whaddya mean you don't know?" Chiyo asked. "Like I said, I don't know. It felt like everything was fine, but as soon as we talked it just… fell apart, I guess. It probably doesn't help that I've been getting this weird feeling from Kanako all day. Like she's annoyed with me or something." "Huh. So you're not as dense as you seem Haru-chi," Chiyo commented. "Dense?" Haruna repeated with a narrowing of her eyes. "Mhm. Dense. Like a rock sometimes," Chiyo said. "Whatever," Haruna said, letting the insult roll off her. "If I'm dense, then what does that make Kanako before she knew how I felt?" she added silently to herself.

Turning back herself, Kanako went back inside. "Huh? Where's Akio-kun?" Haruna's mother asked. "He left, Kanako said shortly. "Did you make him? That's not a good thing to do. Maybe you should go talk to him-" Suddenly, Kanako shot her a glare. "O-Or maybe not," Haruna's mom said. Not even she could resist the strength of Kanako's anger.

It was a question that Haruna hadn't expected. "Um..." she let out, unsure of how to answer. "I've heard from a couple of other parents that some of the kids at school say you two are always doing that. Going to school, coming home, in between classes... Isn't that a bit much? It's fine that you're close again, but I don't think it needs to be to that degree."

Thoroughly embarrassed by having such words pushed into her ear, Michi reeled away from Chiyo, her face beet-red. "I-I-I did not!" she shrieked. "And get that libido of yours in check!" "Aww, but I can't help it. Ever since Mi-chan asked me to stop having my night-time fun, I have nowhere else to channel my energy," Chiyo said with a wink. "That's not my problem!" Michi yelled back.

"Even if we grew up together, and even if we're still technically friends... Right now, I just kinda want to punch his face in," Haruna thought bitterly. The more she watched Akio and Kanako talk, the more it infuriated her. "How is he even here? There's no way he just showed up by chance," she thought. Haruna kept glaring at Akio, but slowly she found her gaze shifting to Kanako. The girl next to her kept smiling. Laughing. Soaking in every second with the boy she was in love with.

However, there had always been one thing that Kanako could never get used to, and that was the fact that Akio would have to choose between the two girls. Kanako hated the idea that even if she was chosen, it would hurt Haruna. And if Kanako didn't get chosen, she'd be hurt, even if she tried to convince herself otherwise. Then, Akio might be stuck dating a girl that isn't entirely happy with the result. "Nobody really wins, do they?" Kanako sighed.

Lying next to her, Haruna watched as Kanako's chest and shoulders rose and fell with each soft breath. She had already closed her eyes and seemed to be fast asleep, lying on her side and facing Haruna. The longer she stared, the more she noticed. Kanako's long eyelashes, her peaceful expression, her small and now make-up-less lips. Her hair was undone as well, causing it to cascade down around her face and neck. All in all, it was a scene Haruna didn't want to pull her eyes away from.
