I think changing perspectives here for now is a good idea. There is not a lot Sophie can really do or that can happen to her that wouldnt require breaking characters or heavily accelerating the plot. Talking about what the parents are doing, maybe even some more information on the general structure of the other empires, will provide both time for you to come up with new ideas and for time to progress within the novel aswell. Meaning after a while there could be a general kind of wrap up chapter exploring what sophie did during the time we followed her parents. I may like our sapphic spidey couple more than the het one, but I dont think there is a lot that can be done with them rn that wouldnt be senseless or actively detrimental.

I wonder if the neutrality ascension take apart from some duties is based on them preparing for the future? As gods they can only intervene indirectly, not directly. So maybe this is just them cultivating?

The curse of having a longpanning story with extensive worldbuilding: how tf do I end this I think for endings the best approach is going for either an open ending, after sophie reached a specific goal, or going for an ending giving total closure, which would either need all of em to be ascension stage or higher or requires even more information about the world beyond the universe

Ahh duke peterlor. I dont know a lot about the intergalactical maps, but there probably is some overlap between the boarders of this and the insectoid empire, no? Could be interesting to have him end up there again, maybe even getting roped into a reunion before meeting his daughter again! Who knows~? There are so many ways for his story to go, I just hope it will make sense and wont be completely impactless.

I think 8 chapters would be the best, assuming we get 2 from duke, 1 from astrid, 1 from assassin gal, 1 from mother and 3 from other characters in the world. On a complete readthrough that really isnt a lot.

Im hoping the tournament arc in 4th year? (i think) wont be a fakeout too. Considering she will be firmly planted in the void stage then and how most people will definitely not have reached that level it could get funny

We also need to consider her mom would need to break through the ascension stage to get out of that prison. The ascension stage guardians of the earth federation borders would absolutely not let another ascension stage being enter. Shed need to be brought in by a very high ranking noble or well the emperor/empress
