“It’s over, she knows.”

Somewhere far away, the last of the Queen's blood evaporated from Cassie's veins. The blind seer curled on the ground, shuddering, tears streaming down her blackened face.

Is bro about to do something to get everyone to hate him including Nephis?

Well doesnt this seem perfect for Sunny to keep return to Master Sunless the baker and weapon master. Some of the people saw he was the Lord of Shadow but it is doubtful they would worship him. Alternatively it provides a perfect excuse for why he has to let Nephis lead completely stay hidden.

"Yes. Now, you know... that is why we killed Broken Sword. Because an heir of Weaver must never be known, must never be loved, and must never be worshiped by humanity."

I think realistically Anvil and Song view their own increase in strength, that would result in uniting humanity, much more than large amounts of awakened and masters; even rank and file saints are not very helpful in a battle of their level. The POV from my understanding is that if a threat to humanity emerges that they cannot deal with then everyone else would contribute little to nothing; if they can get stronger to potentially face that threat then almost any price is worth it. Obviously that is a self serving mindset but also cannot be disregarded completely. That is not even to mention that the warriors born in such a war would no doubt be humanites finest for the next decades; it is incredibly cruel and callous but I would argue that from human history their ideas are not unfounded. Sunny, Nephis, and Modret having divine aspects breaks the current power structure of the world and does mean they are justified to make changes but the continous moralization to make them seem like “bad” people when they are simply antagonistic towards Sunny and Nephis will callous to the everyday human is a clear distinction.

I understand the idea of spite but i mean the screaming and constant insistence that Anvil/Song are some kind of terrible people seems strange to him. From my understanding of his character the fact they are trying to limit him and hurt Nephis is much more than enough to make them enemies, I dont understand why it is being presented that the sovereigns are suddenly the worst people since the spell appeared when they no doubt contributed a lot to humanity. We have no clue how many lives they have saved and we know what they have sacrificed; just because we see all their faults it feels like an unreliable view of them in their entirety. In conclusion i think of lot of my fellow readings have been drawn in to such a deep hatred for the sovereigns entirly because of the biased view from Sunny and Nephis when we have seen so much that shows that they had a very tough situation and tried to do what they could. I also think Sunny lecturing Anvil is somewhat strange since the largest thing Sunny has led was a small unit in Antartica, he has little capital to say he could do much better.

"...That is the entire reason you lost everything, you vile fool! If you were not such a sorry excuse of a father, your children would not have grown to despise you. And if you were not such a failure as a ruler, your subjects would not have turned their back on you. All of this mess… is your doing! One foolish man has almost destroyed the world! Bastard, are you proud of yourself?!"

I just think that if you look at everything from a pov outside of the MC that other than b ing situated opposite from Sunny and Nephis neither Anvil or Song are the kind of cartoonish villans that we are presented them as in the last few chapters. They don’t have the same talent as divine aspect users and have had to make many tough decisions, it is not as if they are actively acting against humanity frok their viewpoints. Sunny talking about stifling the emergance of saints and putting a halt to Broken Swords mania of trying to power up asap as if that was evil makes little sense to me. If the nightmare gates continued to grow in strength large amounts of civilization would have been destroyed, after all their cohert cannot protect the entirety of humanity all the time. If they became Sacred before any other human attained supremacy that would have been a disaster. If anything I think the way everyone is presented has a much deeper depth than simply Sovereigns bad people who did bad things for bad reasons and deserve to die. Obviously Sunny is justified to want blood and be out for vengeance but that is him and Nephis, not necessarily that they are so terrible that they cannot be allowed to live because of how they bad parents or care little about the lives of everyday people. Realistically they held the line for years on humanities behalf and while inferior to Nephis and Sunny do not need to be ceaselessly moralized. Perhaps the war made sense in the ecosystem of only two sovereign to increase humanities overall strength or not but they are the children of War, which is the father of progress, what will happen I can’t wait to see but acting like Anvil or Song are bad actors who’s actions as leaders lead to a decline in human civilization seems somewhat unconvincing to me personally.

Time for the creature in the skull to make an appearance.

Arrogance was a deadly poison. Sure, it seemed like Anvil and Ki Song, who had been weakened by their nefarious plot and by battling each other, were at a dire disadvantage against the usurpers… but it was in these last moments when victory seemed so near that one could touch it when countless warriors had perished, lulled into complacency by the illusion of safety.
