won't say I agree with u cus he was the voice of reason between the 3..He alone condemned karna and suyo for the dice game..He was neutral towards the kauravas and pandavas..Reason as to y joining the kauravas 1)The king helped his family when they were in need..2)He was much closer friend with the kauravas and karna than the pandavas.
