A bit late to the party here but I’m fairly sure it’s written well enough. Being a hunter meant it was mandatory to fight in the war is a good interpretation of the first issue. And for the second one it could be construed that he gained a new form of power (aura in a world of magic perhaps?) he just so happens to be completely inexperienced or unknowledgable about it due to it being a revolutionary power.
I guess this is it. Being a hunter I was volunteering myself to fight in the war. Although I finally gain new power, I'm still too weak and too inexperienced with it.
