Otherwise, the various empires would have raised powerful monsters to help subdue the third stratum and impose some level of order on that wild place. No, ray is in the shadow space but not i the dragon. He is kind of like a solid form of consciousness being kept together only by the shadow space and the system because he took the extra energy from the nest crystal and used it. Im kind of confused as well, but I believe that in the beginning the scientists mentioned how it absorbed carbon through the nozzle. Maybe he is thinking of this and it makes it easier for him to absorb starlight. 🤷♂️
After this, he struggled, feeling an intense headache as he tried to barely squeeze in the starlight through the finer bristles on the edge of his Mental Energy form. It was hard as he not only had to squeeze them through the tiny entrance but also had to move them through the entire length of the bristle until its end—deep within the gun's nozzle.

A bit late but I think you forgot the fact that the lantern looked just like a regular lantern except it highlighted faults only for the person holding it

A huge amount of business flowed through Bentheim, the economic 'port' of the Bright Republic. Due to a complex system of spatial distortions, spaceships had an easier time navigating towards Bentheim. This especially facilitated ultra-long-ranged FTL or faster-than-light travel. Put simply, a ship could travel directly towards Bentheim without making any stops in between in order to reorient themselves and cycle the FTL drive.

Eventually we make our way out of the large gate on the western side of town and the second we are through it looms over us like a mountain. It's ridiculous to call it an 'anthill', such a word doesn't do justice to what I see before me. It's a castle! It's a fortress! It's a palace! It's a mountain!

So i haven’t read the entirety of the other spinoff stories from the author but i hard a lot on how they’re all interconnected and that warrants a high rating for world background. The points taken from that were definitely from the end of the story where it felt like the author was lazing off on describing the world and environment around them. There would be mentions of how there was an entire new universe but we could never really understand the scope of how big some settings were.
