This was the final nail in the coffin. Itami had lost all hope of even bringing the Germans to the negotiating table. All she could do now was mount one last defense of the Japanese mainland. Her next course of action was abundantly clear. She must evacuate all of her troops from the Korean peninsula before the Germans could disrupt her. Descending rapidly from the sky, Colonel Meier fell upon the first three Ki-106s to enter his sight with guns blazing. The combined might of a single 30mm auto-cannon, and two twenty 20mm auto-cannons sprayed the nose of the first enemy plane, blasting it into bits within in the air. The moment the high explosive rounds touched the wooden fuselage, the Ki-106 practically fell apart in the sky. Needless to say, the pilot was killed instantly.

What was perhaps the first instance of Anti-Aircraft weaponry being used in warfare was displayed over the island of Borneo. The Japanese invasion of the Majapahit Empire continued, and it became clear very quickly that the 8.8cm flak cannons employed by the Royal Majapahit Army were more than capable of annihilating the floatplanes used by the Japanese battleships as a means of reconnaissance.
