What I understand this far that, Killorn think Ophelia is too much weak and naive (which is true till now), and can't handle stress (I think this is ture too). So he wants to shield her from everything by not telling her anything and want her to trust him blindly. But she will trust the whole world blindly, specially the sweet talker manipulative Everest anf Emily, except her own husband. She finds fault in everything he does, but too naive to understand how the other people are using her or being friendly with her with some nasty motives. Everest is just a cunning sweet talker snake, lusting after her, want to bed her, also he want her for her lineage, obsessed with her, and perhaps he will protect her and shower her with passion and attention if he get the chance to do so because that's what she craves... Killorn loves her, overprotective, obsessive, don't know how to explain or express clearly, not a sweetheart nor a sweet talker, doesn't care about her shortcomings or worth- just cares about her, don't understand human psychology (specially woman), don't hesitate to show cruelty or his real face in front of everyone, impulsive... . Both of them are toxic, but Killorn can change as he is clueless about many things and doing what he thinks best for Ophelia (though it is not the right way). On the other hand Everest is nothing but a manipulative pervert, who knows exactly what he is doing.

I was reading another book where almost a same situation like this was happening and the ML is a monster for now, and that reminded me of these particular chapters of this book. I have read this chapter long time ago, so I needed to revisit the chapters to confirm that Cane wasn't a monster. He didn't brought Iris here willingly, he was helpless. But he didn't let them go too far(?). He saved her in his own way.

I hate Egon... always assuming on his one, all brawn no brain. What a toxic man! And I thought he is that king from the prophecy!!And I won't mind at all if Adela decide to move on at this point... never thought that one day I will prefer their separation.

I really bad for Nathan. At least Ethan knows that Abi was Jane from the beginning. In fact he didn't even saw Abi, he always saw Jane. Nathan on the other hand, first loved Monica, then Abi and now he have to love Jane. And knowing people through their soul?
