Added to the fact he had inhuman attributes, sharp fangs instead of human teeth, he wasn't even treated as a human.

These guardians were accompanied by their partners, though it differentiated with every hidden village what kind of Pokémon that partner was, this village only used Riolu and Lucario as aura partners, as only this kind of Pokémon had a strong sense in the aura and was capable to utilize it in combat and other things.
