Learning languages is hard! On top of learning the language, you still have to put in effort and learn their culture too! Its hard work but awesome nonetheless! Learned 4 languages too and am learning 4 more at least! I want at least 12 languages under my belt before finishing masters!
Although it doesn't affect you much, another language, advanced mathematics, science or computer skills are always handy to have. Since Chad had already lived to regret not learning when he had the chance, now armed with a magical way to memorise everything, he was going to be king of the nerds! This wasn't even factoring in the things he could do if he also masted Legilimency!

Think about it this way. Occlumency would give wizards and witches the ability to develop their common sense and logic. And also boost their magic ability at the same time. Dumb-as-a-door wouldn't allow that because he has to be the next "Merlin" to be written down in history as the greatest. People not knowing occlumency and Fumble-more being a master Legillimence gives him a Godly advantage because he can read their minds.
Occlumency was always neglected by today's wizarding world, and if it was ever learnt, it was only to combat Legilimency. They somehow forgot that it was mastering your emotions and memories, not just putting up mental barriers. For a magic system that effectively operated from willpower and was strengthened by emotion, it seemed rather idiotic not to learn and master Occlumency.

I'm gonna just imagine Snape as a non-Alan Rickman character. Oh yeah. I can feel the rage and hate bubbling just beneath the surface. Honestly, Alan was such a god-tier actor that it made me hate and love Snape even more.
It was sort of understandable, the only person he actually loved, and he was responsible for her death. Still, Chad hated all the weird love that fans had for Snape. The guy was another example of the stupidity of wizards. Fair enough he was sort of railroaded onto the 'dark path', but it was still his decision to r*pe and murder innocents in Voldemort's name.
