Two minutes passed before Mallory wondered if she should turn back and return to the village. Hadeon was nowhere in sight, and the eeriness of the forest with the owl hooting was beginning to make her heart race in anxiety.

"Aw, come now. I've already picked out the side where you'll be able to rest comfortably," Hadeon remarked, trailing a few steps behind her. "Talking about the same, the earlier rejection was a little strong."

"I have a much better plan," Hadeon smiled, his golden eyes brightening with excitement that Mallory was cautious about. "You shall take a long, nice stroll. So that we can catch this foolish vampire that created a mess."

"Hush now, my dear. No need to air our dirty laundry," Hadeon interjected with a sly grin, relishing every moment of Mallory's discomfort. The air around him shifted to an eerie one, and as his gaze moved to the woman who had made the comment, he fixed her with his sharp gaze. "She did a better job than you did of hiding inside your house like a rat. When one is a rat, they're often the first ones to bite the dust."

"If you really want to do that, you should speak to the one I am serving now. He's just over there," Mallory pointed in the direction of where Hadeon stood. "I will be right here while you go talk to him. He's very understanding."

Next to the woman, a person with red eyes growled, but that wasn't all. Soon there were a couple more growls from different directions, and one that came right next to Mallory.

"Mal monkey!" he exclaimed, causing Mallory to wince. "Did my monkey turn deaf?" he continued, his mischief evident in every word. "Or did that man catch your attention? Excuse me! You, there."

"Mallory," Hadeon called her by her name to her surprise. "Have you fallen in love with me? You have been staring at me a lot. I wouldn't be surprised, because of how loveable I am."

"About what? I had no hands or fangs in the woman's death," Hadeon replied, his head tilting ever so slightly. "This time, I am as innocent as a newborn kitten. Meow." Mallory frowned as she stared at Hadeon's golden eyes. If it wasn't him, then who was it?

Hadeon's expression shifted suddenly, his voice taking on a dramatic tone. "No! No matter how tempting my sacred abs may be, I simply cannot permit you to touch them at night!" His declaration drew a flush to Mallory's cheeks, which only deepened when they encountered two curious villagers in the hallway. "Oh no, I hope you did not hear that…!" he said in a surprised voice.
