This novel is a great example of how not to write a protagonist. As far as the visuals go they're okay but it goes to show how lacking the author is in their description of landscapes and characters. The world building is generic but okay at best. The thing that really puts this novel in the dumps is the MC/author with their 4th wall breaking and pop-culture references. Pop-culture references in novels like this are okay once or twice anymore than that is cringe to say the least. The lack of originality in this novel is astounding I'm surprised no one has sued them for copyright infringement. On the other hand the character development of some of the characters is not bad. There's no harem which in my book is good. The MC is morally ambiguous but has room to grow. I believe if the author stopped overtly inserting himself into the storyline and the MC the novel could be readable. As it stands the novel is more of a parody than a real work of literature.

The novel has decent world building and power scaling but that's about it. There's too much filler with irrelevant side characters. There's 20+ harem members that the author desperately wants the reader to care about each and every one of them. There's no deeper philosophical concepts that we can learn from the MC or the story as the MC never really struggles or strives for anything but sexual gratification.

Poorly. If you're looking for a philosophical or deep interpretation of the dao you've come to the wrong place.

There are better novels out there but to each their own.

Without the harem I believe the author would have space to better develop the female characters and give them their due diligence. The novel needs more diverse characters that instead of taking up entire arcs that don't push the story forward can help the MC either overcome his own shortcomings or develop characteristics and powers that might help him on the future. The antagonists are powerful but because Wei Wuyin is so powerful himself and his relationships are surface level at best the MC doesn't really stand to lose anything and so the antagonists aren't played to their full potential. Even Su Mei becomes irrelevant because even though she supposed to be a strong female character and is an exception to the harem she doesn't really have any goals or situation she has to overcome so she's always on standby ready to become filler when needed. This is true for the other female characters close to Wei Wuyin: they don't really have anything to add to the story that can really stick. I believe that if all of them died the storyline would continue without a hick [As an example for those who have read Shadow Slave imagine if Nephis died and how the whole storyline would change]. I don't know why the author insists on following the stories of every other side character or how it's relevant to the story. In a story where there's an MC that has to go on a heros journey to complete the plot the side characters should only be relevant in so much as they help the MC complete his/her task [think of the fellowship of the ring in Lord of the rings]. The only time it's acceptable to have so many characters that take up the storyline is when the characters or integral in driving the story forward and world building like in Game of Thrones. None of the side characters are helping Wei Wuyin overcome the deadly trials of Hell nor do they drive the plot forward in any meaningful way.

A novel that starts of promising but quickly falls into a pit of mediocrity. To describe the main character in one sentence "Wei Wuyin has a big d*ck". The other characters are either inconsequential to the storyline and end up being just filler or they are Wei Wuyins fleshlight. The author tries and fails dismally to write a "strong female" character because one way or another they end up in the MC's bed. The only redeeming thing about the novel is the world building which is decent. The novel is titled The paragon of Sin but reading the novel you find entire arcs where the MC is a background character and the only sin you find is the unprecedented levels of horniness the author puts into the novel. This novel had the potential to be like Shadow Slave, Reverend Insanity or Birth of the Demonic Sword qhere the MC is thrust into an ill fate and uses everything to fight against it. Where the female characters are strong because they are individuals that need the strength to overcome their own situations not to end up sleeping with the MC and where the MC is not always strong but gains strength through realistic hardships not because the plot demands it. This novel so far is a disappointment.

Noah Balvan is one of the best written MC's out there. All the characters are well written enough to be engaging and with how good the world building is you can quickly become invested in how things will turn out. There are no wasted storylines or useless plots. Overall this is a great novel about a character who will do just about anything to be his true self.

Great read! You can tell the world building has been deeply thought out. The characters are captivating and as realistic as can be. Overall it deserves to be No.1.
