Although it's great Maxi learned (also enjoyed) new things and basic cooking, I doubt Riftan would be happy about it as what he wished for her is to not having to do anything. Bro really needs some time to digest the fact that being able to do things like this makes Maxi happy.

Probably people at Levan (be it the other noble ladies or the church) still found out Idsilla and Maxi disappeared. Then rumours of their disappearance and Maxi's appearance in the war spreaded. And so some people connected the dots and their imagination ran wild.
Noticing Maxi's teary mortification, Idsilla attempted to console her. "Don't be so embarrassed. I make an appearance too, you know. I'm the villain who coaxes you to go to the battlefield. Elba was incensed when he saw it at the royal palace, called it a disgrace to our family."

Frankly, he doesn't seem suspicious to me. I don't get the feeling that he's stalking Maxi too. Since we're reading at Maxi's perspective, she assumed that she accidentally intruded his resting time and space, as he got there first. As for the later chapter where he got her out of a difficult situation, it's probably because since he's leading them to the castle, it's quite likely he would still be near by the group when they're settling down in the camp. I get why you feel like he's following her though. From the narration, he does keep an eye on Maxi sometimes, and that can sound creepy to some people.

Okay.... So it seems you have a more complete view on him since you're on Book 2. Based on your description in the future events he does seem like a jerk. However he doesn't seem that way in the current book. So calling others who haven't gotten to read book 2 'delusional', is quite rude. Also please tone down your words. I'm sure more people prefer happy and peaceful discussions. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
