now that's how I like my cultivation mc, those idiots with system or other cheats have it easy but without them they would just be cannon fodder but our mc here uses hard work and perseverance to improve and not some shady bs pill or heaven earth whatnot treasure
Money wasn't important to me. I didn't really have to rely on spirit stones or so-called cultivation resources to grow stronger. I only needed hard work, perseverance and effort. There was nothing I could buy that would surpass Heaven and Earth Formula in terms of helping me improve my cultivation level. This wasn't some fictional cultivation story where I had to ascribe to some never-ending capitalistic system of hoarding, earning money, spending and buying, consuming stuff or refining elixirs or whatever to grow stronger. I was going to achieve it the old fashioned way – by training!

Unfortunately, I wasn't some Mary Sue protagonist who knew miraculous medical skills or was a gifted alchemist, so I couldn't concoct any spirit pills or elixirs. I was just some guy who knew how to fight. Rather than thinking of me as the typical Chinese cultivation story protagonist, it would be more accurate to identify me with the more balanced (but still overpowered) Korean murim story protagonist. I wasn't that much of a Gosu, but I certainly wasn't Yun Che or any of the many Chinese masters slash traditional Chinese medicine practitioners that were so popular everywhere.

Also, what rule stated that villains couldn't be human and do the right thing? We were simply villains because of circumstances – my choice to cultivate in a demonic sect, and my killing of enemies who attacked me. That didn't mean I had to be selfish, arrogant or ruthless. A person was made of many different facets. No one was completely good or completely evil.
