Still in their guises and under the sleeping spells, Treni and Rudsis lay on beds in that house, but Afena and her family ignored them for now. It would soon be time to enact their chastisements upon them. Meanwhile, Alis played music while the others sang. Then, they played games, and made plans for the future.

Selen broke in sobs, sat on the legs of her husband, and poured all the tears she would ever cry for the rest of her infinite life. Jublun simply held her with eyes closed, and a peaceful, satisfied smile.

Krenen caught him, and let him down on the floor not gently, but only carefully enough so that he would not hit his head too hard on the floor.

"Oh, you'll find out soon enough. It's curious, if you ask me, how wanting to act nobly leads us to take ignoble actions. Ask a parent to name his favorite progeny, and they'll lie. Most of them at least. I can bluntly tell you that I have my favorites, and you're among them. But don't worry. I've taken special considerations for those that died because of her. As to the ones that accept and worship her...well, they'll have to redeem themselves in my eyes.
