David_Edmonds - Profile

I really enjoyed this novel for the most part, except this most recent story development where archers have changed so much that he doesn't feel like the same character I came to love he went from a fun loving bandit character whose gray to a full blown tyrant you could say it's about the chaos coming and all that but the thing pushed me is him killing a innocent woman for pointing out his flaws it ruined his whole character for me once you do there is no going back he has begun the same thing he strived to battle against also his whole laws for his empire just suck in general I would rather live where the villians are then where archer has set up and you can't say they are temporary laws whatever they suck and it makes him a tyrant more like zeus he is now zeus if you know any Greek story that involves zeus and his paranoia that is archer and it ruined him, I preferred the archer where he's a fine person unless you do something then you get his wraith not the tyrant who wants to conquer the world to save everyone it just ruined what made archer a likable character in the beginning and the fact this change came so late in the story is such a jarring and weird mood that it feels like a totally different book other than archer lets talk about his harem god what happened they went from likable girls with different personalities to generic nothing burgers with different toppings(hair) they were really interesting characters for 400 chapters that actually played with archers character well to yes men who agree with everything he does like kills a innocent woman who says he's bad cool like at least make some of them raise concerns about how much he's changed like the only thing he says is "chaos is coming" and they agree with him it is getting too much stop adding girls for the sake of having more harem they don't get much personality they feel bland like recently the kraken princess I know nothing about her fine you want to flesh her out cool but then there's the wood elf I barely know anything about her the girl he wants to steal from the wedding I know nothing the bunny girl I know nothing about her they are just becoming trophys he wants to collect instead of fleshed characters with interesting motivations for why he wants them and for why they want him instead "oh I'm handsome and strong and your hot with no personality give me sex" world building was amazing till it wasn't the whole world was amazingly fleshed out to the point you know the most important places where you want the characters to go where actions gonna happen but no never went there once, there was a scene I loved in the early chapters about the city attacked by the rat men with the girl becoming a dragon fighting for years and her brother writes a book and teaches at the college but does it ever get brought back up no it feels like a waste I forgot the girls name it's barely mentioned in passing on places to go it doesn't feel important anymore if you say its because archer is week it really should not have been mentioned as early as it did, also and the story has slowed down way too much I liked the fast pace with a little bit of slowness to it but the most recent chapters have felt way too slow like the tournament has taken up to much time and it's only a preliminary tournament to the other one like what???? why make this take nearly 40 chapters just to go on a little brake to then go to another one straight after it feels like padding as an excuse to slow the pace of the story also the expedition portion amazing segments builds suspense makes you feel dread like what's there then poof it disappears for 30 and you have to watch archer be an unlikeable tyrant then it's back I want to really enjoy this story I really do but this most recent volume has changed it way to much to where it feels like a new book with new characters
