So basically the Amulet of Kings was used to crown the ruler of the Empire of Tamriel but was later used by the last Dragonborn Emperor, Varen Aquilarios, leading to the Soulburst, weakening the barriers between Nirn and Oblivion. This event set the stage for Molag Bal’s attempt to merge Nirn and Coldharbour, known as the Planemeld, during The Elder Scrolls Online. Ultimately, the amulet was “supposedly destroyed” when Martin Septim sacrificed himself to become the avatar of Akatosh, sealing the barrier between Tamriel and Oblivion.
