Hey author I would suggest using a different synonym of surge, in the future, as this word is a little bit too dynamic for the atmosphere I believe you want. I would suggest instead the words raise, grow, gushed, or sweeped.

Hm it’s been a while since I’ve read this but even if the brood is somehow very good at assimilating poisons you could still use non lethal or potions designed for indirect use. Like for example if you had a potion that created a really bad odor, basically to the point of being really hard to breath for a regular person. Well if you take that potion and place it so when some of the brood moves around they will break the vial so that the stink is proliferating around the whole room. And considering how Scorpions have a really good sense of smell it should distract if not nauseate the crowd. You could also make a simple glitter bomb like potion that could make the scorpions more noticeable when they appear, or even some potion that has concrete like properties that will keep the brood from moving. Or maybe a poison that increases a creatures adrenaline, so that hopefully when they become immune to it, it also increases its own immunity to its own adrenaline. Or what ever gets the job done.

Personally I can respect your thought process as I also agree with your conclusion, though for a different reason. To me what ever someone is willing to do for you, for whatever reason, that same person can do against you if the circumstances are dire enough. So since I would want to be in a relationship where some the woman would clearly say whether she is actually my woman or not. I wouldn’t want to be with a woman who thinks who sleeps around a lot on her husband.
