Author do you plan on making the mc learn other weapons like sword? If I remember correctly Baran (king of the demons) had a pretty up sword, that later was given to Igris.

Give him a boost of 150% of physical damage, 200% growth of physical related skills, +20 vitality +20 stamina +15 strength You can also give him a skill like: "charge of the bull king" Use this skill while charging at an enemy, you deal 300% damage on the first 5 physical attacks. this skill can leave the enemy stunned or intimidated
