This book had the potential to be absolutely great. It had a unique selling point in that it’s got a mermaid main character and you really don’t see that very much if at all really. So that intrigued me so much from the start. And I was excited to get into it. But that’s where the good things end for me unfortunately. The author spent the whole book building it up for Esmeray to eventually end up with a certain man (don’t want to give spoilers for anyone by saying who it is) so much so that you get invested in them, waiting for the time that they’ll eventually come together, only for it to never happen, and for her to end up with the other man with 2 kids and one on the way. So that very much disappointed me. I‘m very unhappy with how this book ended up finishing, and even though this is only volume one, and the story is not over, there’s no coming back for esmeray and the main character she should’ve ended up with in my opinion now, as she’s mated and got three kids with the other. I just really wish this was not the way the author had taken this book. I don’t think it’s fair to constantly be building up a relationship between two characters, only for it to never happen. It fell really flat for me because of that. The other issue for me was the writing it’s self, words were in the wrong place, and sometimes sentences didn’t make sense or the wrong words were used. That can be very distracting and annoying. I’m also not happy with how much this book has cost me to read. I started on another reading app, and it’s cost well over £35 to read this book to 47 chapters there (as that was all that reading app had of this book, but I then found it on here and it had 10 more chapters here). So I then I had to buy those last 10 chapters here as well. Overall I feel this book is just a big let down unfortunately. There’s absolutely no heat or passion in the book watsoever, and definitely no sex that’s for sure. Honestly, spend your money on another book, don’t waste it on this like I did.
