After making sure I was good to go, I slung my bag on my shoulders and left my room. I made my way downstairs and saw my parents cuddled up in each other's arms.

when using 1st person POV I it's not advisable to describe as such *my headphone is* it sounded off for a 1st person POV

honestly I was indeed captivated by the first few sentences, for some reason unknown to me I just felt like 'Yes' this is the right novel.I've been reading for a while now and I can only say this; KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AUTHOR !!!
