When he sees the small twitch near Nicholas's eyes, he internally screams since he is not really at the right time to fight the protagonist, especially when their power difference is too big. Lester immediately tries to dilute the upcoming tension, sighing arrogantly and saying, "That seaweed brain was trying to hit on his girlfriend and it pissed me off." A really bad reason, but Lester knew himself better than everyone else. He knew how much he hated couples because he himself was single. And he is pretty sure Nicholas knew that too.
