the story is the typical weak to strong attempt, keyword attempt, because this genre usually tries to add in a sense of realness to it, thus the story either ends being really good or the lowest form of trash possible that makes it unreadable. The mc at the start is weaker than an average normal human on basically all parameters and he doesnt even have mana, yet despite being weaker than you and I he somehow managed to get in a school for super humans... how you may ask? no reason lol, he doesnt even have any sort of connection, money or academic ability, but its not like this author cares about logic, thus this story fails right at chapter 1. Anyways I didnt start reading this expecting a masterpiece so I preserved and turned a blind eye to all the stupidity and cliches right till (spoiler) the classic girl turned into a vampire arc cus vampires are cool and edgy, this arc was just too stupid and braindead to the point that I cant endure this torture anymore -_- in this arc the author went way out of his way to break the already almost non existent logic in this story, from mc letting villains injure him because a demon is seeing through them? although this was not an issue with the other villains who are even ranked higher, but if he didnt get injured the random vampire wouldnt have found his blood on the street to get a power up for by licking the blood that is somehow still fresh and get the power to turn magical girl into a vampire -_- summary: typical trash story that pretends to not be a trash story, so it doesnt offer any sort of enjoyment. And to the author if youre reading this please find another career this is really not it -_-

I usually turn my mind off to enjoy fantasy stories most of the time unless it is something really well written and has depth to it but even then I couldnt subjugate my brain to further torture reading this novel. Let me start with the positives about this novel: - The protagonist had a decent backstory and for the most part solid reasoning. - The interactions between the mc and his tower wife (not a wife in a tower, but an actual tower, like a tower made out of rocks) were okay and she made for an interesting sidekick Now on to why I dont recommend this novel: - Power Scaling is trash, to describe it without spoiling too much: do you remember when you were a kid and playing with your friends and say something like "my ice powers will stop your fire powers, because ice is too cold" then next week you forget everything (because youre five years old and your memory is the equivalent of 1 Kilobyte) and say to your same friend "your fire powers is more powerful than my ice powers because ice melts fire" -_- thats how the power levels here work its literally whatever the author thinks they should be while writing the current chapter. If youre still not convinced here is a spoiler to further prove that no I am not exaggerating: the mc is reincarnated (lets say reincarnated for simplicity's sake and because it doesnt matter here) in this new magical world, and just like other stories of this genre he retained all his memories and was fully conscious since coming out his mother's womb during which he saw magic for the first time, the mc then started training his magic since that moment (literally since birth) and because he is the mc his magic was different (which is okay Im not gonna nitpick here), he was able to use a better more powerful form of magic than the rest of the people, very few could use this form of magic and the rest are using an inferior form. Fast forward he finds his tower wife that was introduced as an all powerful artifact with ego but end up being less useful than siri because she lost her memories and powers -_- by this point the mc is 6-8 yo and he is already working as a bounty hunter and doing an apprenticeship under a fallen magician, meeting magical beasts that can use the same powerful magic he uses... skip forward some more academy arc, by this point he is already powerful enough to kill groups of mages, magical beasts, mercenaries that used to work for the queen but got kicked out. Sounds like an op mc right? that is until the author forgets all this and decide that with all this the mc is still no more powerful than an avg middle schooler somehow and use the old excuse that the xy student is a genius. Many will say that "oh, but he was hiding his powers" which is fine because there is an even worse example about how garbage the power scaling is: at some point 3 Guardian beast are introduced, one of them is a dragon, and this dragon says that the mc is weaker than his disciple before he met her, now you might be thinking wow his disciple was too op right? WRONG! she was a 16 yo less than avg school graduate -_- - World building: in short its inconsistent, its a medieval setting where nobles have castles and there is enough technology mostly through magic to build hospitals and schools (which the mc compares to the modern world) and equipment like communication devices that are capable of producing holograms and scanning things in real time, but somehow the world isnt developed enough for paper to be a common thing that is coupled with what I assume is the author' fetish (because its mentioned almost every darn chapter) of people not having underwear (not just for the poor people, even the nobles dont have them -_-), although underwear were here since as early as 7000 bc -_- -Characters: the mc: follows the typical anti-hero edgy protagonist with a sad past route, for the most part his actions are understandable and logical, he has his flaws and there is an obvious character development except when it said development stagnates or regresses for no reason but thats not too bad it makes the mc somewhat look human. other Characters: except for his family, two mentors and tower wife the mc doesnt have any meaningful interactions with any side characters its mostly mc trying to use them or they him. What really bothers me is that the mc is constantly being painted as a sociopath for protecting himself or his family and not wanting to being used like a tool and the other characters who are mostly deranges psychopaths are somehow normal? the biggest example for this is the school headmaster who is depicted as a new revolutionary wise scholar who cares for his students (lol) is constantly mentioning how dangerous the mc is and unethical... but this same headmaster has a dungeon where he tortures criminals then let them be eaten alive by magical beasts, not to mention his bright idea to basically psychologically break and scar children by making them commit murder -_- to summarize the other characters are annoyingly hypocritical. All in all unless you really enjoy inflicting pain on yourself I dont recommend this garbage. For the life of me I dont know how anyone can suffer through 1000+ chapters of this. Worst novel I have ever read.

the terms I was taught were king, minister, castle, roc/elephant, horse soldier

The differences from the common chess game were few but significant. First, the king and queen roles were swapped. Lith had to suck up to an important woman, making the king the game goal was plainly stupid.

I think it differs by country, I learned it that way when I was a kid so I was a bit confused by the queen piece at first when I first played with people using that term lol

yep, youre underestimating how fragile babies are, a friend of mine had hairline fractures on his ribcage from falling and hitting his chest on the toilet lol (yes he was drunk xD) and thats an adult so if a baby landed in an awkward angle its possible

Immediately after, Lith faked a "Vinire Lakhat!" Guided by his willpower, the light magic first dulled the pain, then it made the bone fragments reattach themselves to the ribcage and the arm.
