For the record, I despised tragedies and exclusively read happy endings. And when I came across a story without one, I tended to either retcon it in my head or retcon it in writing to fix that.

I agree he could use clairvoyance for many things and he should be abusing it, but surely something like Auriel's Bow has some sort of ward so that any random mage can't find the Fat Boy 9000
Harkon was a more immediate problem though. The exact details of the questline eluded him since it had been so long, but there were some major points he remembered. Serana would most likely leave after finding out her father's true plan. The soul cairn was still there waiting, and he was pretty sure there was something about getting 3 elder scrolls, but he couldn't remember if that was a fact or not. 'I also can't forget about Auriel's bow. I know that it was located near Markarth, and it was in some hidden location, but the exact spot eludes me. Manually searching the many caves and mountains in that area would take months with no guarantee of success.'

He thought about visiting Fort Dunstad, the fort guarding the road between Dawnstar and Winterhold/Windhelm, but it was looking kind of shabby. It seemed to be filled with shabby guardsmen and some dirty looking mercenaries. No place for a self-respecting mage, even if he was really curious when he heard rumors of a Skeever fighting ring inside the fort. Maybe one day he would build his own arena, the one in the Imperial City was supposed to be quite profitable.

Illegal is an understatement. They killed anyone who still practiced it (besides the OP mages that could brrr the empire existence). Not that they can anymore now that the Dominion took over.
The road to Winterhold was mostly uneventful. Rictus decided to use his telekinesis to "fly" most of the way there to speed along the trip. He did have to take breaks ever so often since he still hadn't gotten quite good enough with the control to really fly with it. He basically was just throwing his body really hard in the air and relying on Slow Fall to keep him from falling to fast. Rictus had to take breaks every so often since it felt kind of like riding a roller coaster, and he needed a break.
